Engineer / Technical Support Role

Our company AVW Broadcast Pty Ltd., is a member of the AVW group (established in 1982).

We are a specialist equipment supplier and engineering support company with a primary focus on engineering solutions and sales to the Radio & Television Broadcast, IPTV, MATV, Satellite and AV marketplace.

Our clients range from major Television / Radio Networks, Sporting, Entertainment and Government Enterprises through to privately run Technology Integrators.

AVW Broadcast is seeking a junior engineer / technical assistant to join our company. You will have an interest in IT, Computers and the Broadcast or AV Industry. Most importantly you must be keen to learn and willing to get stuck into anything; as this role is diverse and will be varied from day to day – building and testing broadcast systems one-day, driving, packing and dispatching goods the next.

Typical Tasks will include:-

• Building, testing and repairing components and systems
• Picking, packing and shipping out goods to customers
• Setup / manage computers and servers
• Answer phones and provide customer support
• Provide technical support to customers / members of staff
• Keeping the office & workshops clean and tidy

What you will currently have and know:-

• A strong interest in some if / not all of the following: Computers, IT, AV, RF, IPTV, MATV and Radio & Television Broadcast
• Willingness to learn and progress in our industry – we have plenty of room to grow in both engineering and sales capacities.
• Australian drivers licence. Existing permanent residence or appropriate permissions to work in Australia. You are non-smoking and physically fit (as some lifting is involved)
• Confidence in communication, reliable in attendance and trustworthy in actions.
• An attention to detail, and an ability to work unsupervised and to a time-frame
• Complete fluency of English – accurately written and clearly spoken.
• A good knowledge of Microsoft Office and related programs
• Competency and confidence with tools and manual techniques.  While we will supply all tools and equipment needed, you are probably the sort of person that already has your own tools and favorites. You probably have your own multi-meter and soldering iron and have experience in using both.
• You will know the difference between a Coax and a Cat5 cable

We don’t expect you to know everything on day-1, but are looking for a candidate who is hardworking and keen to learn.  We are very keen to teach you – if you are keen to learn.

Position is located in St Leonards, Sydney. Trains and buses are close, plus we have some off street parking available.
